The Share Foundation

Helping support
children in care

The Share Foundation is a registered UK charity. Its mission is to enable young people to leave care at 18 years old with both the material resources and knowledge to achieve their potential. In February 2012 the the Department for Education appointed The Share Foundation to establish Junior ISAs to support more than 55,000 children who are in long- term care.

The charity works closely with local authorities throughout the UK in identifying eligible children and young people to open tax-free savings accounts and attract further funds for them. During the first year they opened a staggering 40,000 Junior ISAs and sent a further 3,000 cheques for £200 to eligible young people too old to receive a Junior ISA.

Zebedee was asked to create their non-profit website design, we recommended Squarespace for the solution, chosen for speed, cost, ease of use and simplicity, and to develop the brand online quickly.

Making updates easy
with Squarespace website design

Our designer got to work on the logo, recreating it in vector format to make it crisper and suitable for their branding and print design. Then our Squarespace website designers fully immersed themselves in the project, meticulously setting up theme styles to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing user experience. They paid close attention to every detail, aligning the design elements with the client’s logo to maintain brand consistency and a professional aesthetic throughout the site. This involved selecting complementary colour schemes, typography, and layout structures that not only reflected the brand’s identity but also enhanced the overall functionality and user engagement. By integrating these elements seamlessly, our team created a website that is both visually stunning and easy to navigate, providing a polished and professional online presence for our client.

As an additional project, our web design agency also developed the contributions form, with registration functionality built in so that donor details can be remembered should they return. We developed 3 user-friendly steps for the form and a confirmation screen, including mandatory fields and validation. C# scripting was coded to calculate final donation figure based on user choices, including tax rate, gift aid and frequency. Finally, SSL on donations increased security by encoding donor’s personal details when submitting the form steps using 256-bit encryption.

Valuable resources freed up

The strategic benefit of creating the website with Squarespace lies in its ability to significantly reduce delivery time, resources, and costs. This efficiency minimises the strain on other resources at ShareFound, allowing the organisation to allocate more attention and effort towards its core mission. By leveraging Squarespace’s user-friendly platform, we were able to streamline the development process, ensuring a swift and cost-effective project completion.

Following the successful launch of the website, the charity was impressed with our work and subsequently commissioned us to undertake additional projects. These included designing an engaging competition form, developing a sophisticated web application design, and producing a range of printed materials such as brochures and business cards. We also created electronic stationery to further enhance their professional image. Each of these elements was crafted with the same attention to detail and commitment to quality, reinforcing the charity’s brand and supporting their ongoing initiatives.
